Christmas is over and pretty soon break will be over and my son and I will be back to our lessons. We will be working on the drop the "e" and the four types of sentences. I created this fun game show activity to add a little fun to the lesson. You can print it here for free!
Looking for more sentence activities? Check out my Four Types of Sentences packet. It includes 2 worksheets, a memory match game and a sentence craft! You can check it out here.
Do you work through the holidays or do you give your kids some type of break? Let me know in the comments.
Growing up I think compound words were my favorite part of grammar. How cool is it to take two words, put them together to make a new word. I like that if you put two words together and they don't make sense, then it is not a real compound word, if it makes sense, you made a new word. It is all about trial and error, not too much pressure and still fun to do. I think making silly words and saying them out loud was the most fun.
That is what it is all about, fun. My son gets bored when I am just lecturing, I do all the talking and he does all the listening. We do this a lot in Math, so I try to make English a little more fun. I create fun games, worksheets or crafts to make the learning process easier.
I created this fun worksheet called Alien Compound Words. Help the Aliens find their home planets. You can glue the Aliens on the planets for a one time activity or you can just place the Aliens on their home planet to do it more than once. The choice is yours. You can print the worksheet here.
You want more fun activities to do with compound words, no problem, I created more fun things here. There is a compound word match, compound word adding, compound word shopping and a compound word sunflower craft. Here is a preview of the word matching and word adding.
What fun things do you do when practicing compound words? Let me know in the comments.
Well, not really ewww, but definitely -EW! I can't believe that Christmas is in like 2 weeks. I barely got any shopping done. Is your shopping done? To make our lessons a little more festive, I have created this cute Christmas themed -EW worksheet.
All you have to do is have your kiddo color all the -ew words. You can print it here.
How do you incorporate the holidays into your lessons? Let me know in the comments.
My name is Robin. I am a homeschooling mom of three and I just love to find ways to make learning fun. I am so excited to share my ideas with you. I try to make my ideas as inexpensive as possible. Most of the items I use are things that are around most houses and if you have a printer and ink you are all set. Please feel free to use these ideas in your own learning adventure with your children.
